Curator's note:  Looks like a 50's version of a Manufacturer's Recall!  It is believed that the inherent problems with the early Olivers was caused by the pressures of getting to the market quick - without any apparent concern for quality control and testing.  Oliver suffered bad word of mouth publicity right from the "get-go" as the result of these inferior motors and this may have contributed greatly to their early departure from the outboard market.   Any viewer comments?  email us
