1950 Chris-Craft Ad
Submitted by Jack Pedersen

Curators note:  Image was created from a "Xerox" copy, resulting in poor scanning quality.  As a result, the small print in the ad is unreadable unless the ad is "blown up" to a very large size, resulting in a file so big that we would all be retired before it loaded.  Because the content is so interesting, I have edited the image with numbered "hot spots". Click on the thumbnail to take you to a special viewing page.  Then click on any hot spot number and you will be linked to the text for that portion.  Sorry for the hassle but it's the best we could do under the circumstances.  If anyone has a better copy, send it along and we will replace this one.  Thanks.

EVER SEE ONE OF THESE?

Curators note:  Paul writes that he has no history on this item.  I was puzzled about this product when I  first received the efiles from Paul.  Upon much deep thought (which comes hard these days) I vaguely remember something about an Oliver non-outboard product announcement/bulletin that the dealership where I worked received probably circa 1957/58.  This kind of product wasn't exciting enough for me at the time and I have lost memory of it.  Sure would like more details.  Anybody help?

Curator's note:  Scott is an advertishing graphic artist and has "mastered the art of scanning".  These images come from the many outboard magazines originally purchased by his father.   Scott is a member of the Antique Outboard Motor Club, Thousand Islands Chapter; a member of the American Powerboat Association, the Fishers Landing Racing Club (www.gisco.net/flrc) where he races C-stock runabouts and is the proud owner of a Chris-Craft Commander and Challenger - among others.   Sounds like he's a busy guy...but he has promised more of these fine images.

Scott in action.  Image "borrowed" from the Fishers Landing
Racing Club Web site - don't think they will object.
